Temple Cleaning

On Friday, Sep. 7th Craig and I went to the Salt Lake Temple at 9:15pm to help clean the temple. We were excited to see some of the ins and outs of the temple. We got to go into a basement room and saw some interesting things. There were some blueprints to the temple laying out on a table, old furniture, a chandelier, etc. It was cool to see. And it was fun walking through different paths in the temple to get to different places...it was kind of confusing. What we ended up doing was cleaning the crystal chandeliers in the Celestial Rooms. It was so interesting dusting these beautiful chandeliers and seeing that they are NOT that dusty so it was interesting to think that they clean them often. You don't really think about that kind of stuff until you do it. They literally clean the temple DAILY! There are some things like vacuuming that they do EVERY DAY and other things they rotate throughout the week. It was fun. I'm going to put Chandelier Cleaning Skills on my resume now! (wink wink)

Here is a photo from when Craig and I were dating at the SLC Temple at conference time Oct. 2005. (so you have a picture to look at)

That's cool. Chris and I were going to do that too but we never did. I thought it would be cool to go to those different corridors too. It IS unbelievable what goes on to keep everything clean and beautiful and functional! Fun picture too! Ü

Jon and I helped clean the Albuquerque Temple once. It was crazy because it felt like you are cleaning something that has no dirt. But I sanitized the chairs in one of the rooms, and then we cleaned the mens locker room...and dusted the baseboards in a few hallways.
You gain a different respect for all that goes into having the temples there and always looking beautiful don't you?
Kind of fun that you got to do the Salt Lake Temple though!! I would have gotten totally lost in there.
FUN that you went though!

Yeah it was fun. Tara-that is cool that you cleaned the ALB. Temple it's a good experience. It really makes you appreciate it more. Tricia-how sad for friend...that would be so stressful and you would feel so bad. What a tragedy! But if you have the opportunity do it...its neat.

Mom here: I've never knew they had 'regular folk' clean temples like that....except on rare occasions. But now both you & Craig and Tara & Jon have done that. What a treat to see that old stuff (blueprints) in the basement. Did you go in tunnels? Living in SLC brings many opportunities! These are the kinds of things you will never forget. What a blessing of service. And I think I took that picture of you & Craig....yes? Anyway, you guys are CUTE! Tricia, your poor friend. I would feel terrible too, but whachagonna do? Accidents happen....

Mom...no you didn't take that picture. The picture was taken in October of 2005 which was the first time we meet back up after the summer that we meet. That was the weekend that we had our first kiss and I went to his mission reunion and we checked out LDSBC, etc.
